What do you get when you cross cultivated high intellect, unabiding perseverance and determination, old world manners, and pursued intuition? No, not a first class struggling nerd, but a charged up youth who embodies the corporate soldier anticipated of this 21st century. With these days' eradicating trends of dog-eat-dog negotiating tactics, and the onset of globalization merging the most clever of perspectives, Armando Gutierrez Jr. adopts the best of opportunities to make it to where he stands today. His merger of prestige and character, goodness and authority, make him in our Alumni Showcase. Armando Gutierrez Jr. was born September 11, 1981 here in Miami, Florida and graduated with his bachelors from the University of Miami in '03 where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Handling a notable characteristic of independent thinking, Armando Gutierrez Jr. has maneuvered past regular demands of others his age in his single handed founding of the College Republicans Chapter at U.M. Such innovative thinking and organizational skills led him to further feats. Only days after the Hurricane Katrina disaster, he and a fellow graduate put together a group of students in an all-funded relief trip. The University of Miami volunteers gathered became the first student group to assist the destruction in the entire nation. In another civic duty response, he petitioned in the raising of $2 million to build an overpass immediately after a U.M. student was killed on a busy highway that faces the university and any more potential accidents. The son of a prominently known political figure, Armando Gutierrez Jr. aspires to continued political, civic, and community involvement. He has interned for United States Senator Bill Nelson, Miami Dade County Commission Chairman Joe Martinez, & United States District Judge Ursula Ungaro Benages, and is currently on the Re-Election Committee for current City of Coral Gables Mayor Don Slesnick among many other involvements not mentioned. Many know Armando for his fight to save the Freedom Tower in Miami from demolition. Armando's previously mentioned orchestrating skills extend to his role today of being president and founder of the investment company Gutierrez Group. A company specializing in acquisition and development of real estate in Florida, it is his current take to a 9-5pm job. Of course, when he is in Miami. Armando travels non-stop, often for business. Just recently he was in China. He takes advantage of what little free time he does get to satiate his curiosity for the globe and all its functions. It is his passion, thirst for knowledge, and comprehension of the extent of his powers which keeps Armando dedicated and, consequently, always at the proverbial top of the game.

Armando Gutierrez Jr. serves as Vice- Chairman of the Miami Dade County Historic
Preservation Board, has contributed entries to various magazines, and is an
affiliate of Pepsi. He enjoys jogging on a regular basis, bowling at Lucky Strike
on South Beach, and Starbucks.
